Happy New Year and Best Wishes in 2023!
On our trip to Colombia this Christmas we frequently heard “Que Dios le bendiga”, or “May God bless you” used as a very polite “Thank you.” At the end of a particularly rough cab ride with a typically warm and chatty driver through Medellin at rush hour, he said “Que Dios le multiplique sus bendiciones” - “May God multiply your blessings”. In 2022, God certainly did that for us.
Joaquin is an excellent student in his Sophomore year at Stuart Hall High School in San Francisco. He thrives on the Track team (middle distance) in the Spring and Cross Country in the Fall. He’s such a strong runner that we competed as a Father / Son team in the “Escape From The Rock” relay race this August, where Oscar swam from Alcatraz Island to Aquatic Park in San Francisco and handed off to Joaquin who ran out to the Golden Gate Bridge and back (7 miles). He was the youngest runner in the event and we placed in the top 20! In January he is going to Costa Rica with his school for a week of charitable activities (cleaning beaches, painting schools) and horsing around with a bunch of other 15 year olds.
Adrian is in his Junior year as an Engineering major at University of California at Berkeley aka Cal aka Berkeley. He is the Social Chair of his fraternity (Acacia), is a DJ on the campus radio station, and helps book bands and artists for on-campus concerts. In February he is headed to Utrecht, Netherlands for a semester abroad. We can’t wait to go visit him!
In August, Nicolas entered the graduate program in Physics at San Francisco State University where he will get his Masters (and likely will pursue a PhD down the road…). He is also a coach for the rowing 🚣 club in San Francisco where he first discovered his love for the sport. In June he led his Novice Girls squad to the quarterfinals of the National Championships in Sarasota, FL, for the first time in the club’s history.
We took some incredible family trips this year, including (click links for pictures): Colombia in March, the Northern California Redwoods in June, Hawaii in August, Black Rock Desert in September, and back to Colombia in December.
